Just recently in a fit of pique over the shape these here states are rapidly falling into, I came up with this graphic. Actually, I have had something like this in mind ever since Soviet Union fell apart. Figuring the USA was not more than 15-20 years behind a similar breakdown, for many of the same reasons. When it comes to the Cold War mentality, both winners and losers can't help but share the same fate. Terminal breakup following policies of terminal stupidity. Fix It or F_ _k It was intially was intended to be a bumper sticker, but now I'm not so sure. Apparently I am chickening out just like the dwindling portion, of the rest of America that still has any appreciable foresight and a conscience seems to be doing. Standing up to the new viscious version of American nazi thuggery unleashed upon us, is after all a thankless dangerous, unpalatable business. Market Testing Goes Awry As a test of its "appeal" ha ha, I broadcast it fairly widely to several lists I subscribe to, along with a goodly handful of old friends in my address book. At this point in time it has "failed" to make the grade that would have turned it into a buyable commodity. But that might change. The next inevitable political shitstorm, or the present one surround Enron might turn it into an eeriely precisient form of 24 karat radioactive gold for all I know. Be that as it may, it is if nothing else, a testimonial to just how weird constant campaigning in the American political wasteland can be. Winners morph into losers and vice versa, at the drop of a hat, at the nod of the head. Don't blink. The car, it was a Cadillac too for Christ sake, that just went wizzing past you, really did have a fix it or fuck it sticker on it. Replacing the old Greatful Dead sticker it used to sport...pirated no doubt. Well times change. Its a new era with new rules I'm told. In the post 9-11 world, politics have gotten...a lot rougher. These are indeed interesting times. You would probably miss something important if you did blink. This rant thankfully is not one of them. It is exactly what it seems to be. Merely an obscure but interesting footnote to a future history that chronicles the fall of the American Empire. The sky has already fallen and Nobody cares. A little ol sticker announcing the fall will pale in comparison with storm troopers kicking your door down. Or a "limited" nuclear exchange. If you have trouble handling a rant, maybe you should quit reading here. Because I guarantee you, my angst at what our (?) government is doing to our country these days in our name, in the name of homeland security and fighting terrorism, in the name of the love of God and country, is bottomless. includes EveryOne is worth the trouble. Right? OK, I can get behind that.
Well, the situation has deteriorated well past THAT.
Here's a retake, that at least in my present mood and view,
that is suitable and more than a little fitting for our present 21st Century debacle.
Like EveryBody- and I do mean everyone, right, left and center agrees that this Country has
some serious problems. Things need fixing no doubt about it. From our roads to our schools. Our environment to our attitudes. From our marriages to our computer operating systems. Our security systems to our political structures. Everything needs fixing. Everything needs repair.
Where we disagree is what to do about it.
What we disagree on is not the issue here.
The issue is to stir a boiling pot before it scorches & blackens at the
bottom
and ruins the soup.
Have I gone too far? Or in a direction best not taken?
Does America deserve/need to see this particular message while their wizzing down
the road at 55mph + ?
Will it have the effect I want, which is to get people to
think about real solutions, NOT in terms of Hitlerian final solutions?
Or will it just piss EveryBody off?
Will AnyBody be ballsy enough to actually peel
the backing off and stick it on a bumper? I do have my doubts
on that one.
I don't mind pissing elements of the right wing off. They deserve
it. Lording it over the rest of US in the name of God and Country.
It seems like my very existence has been an affront

I gained an immediate compassion for the non-courageous. An admiration for the cowardly survival instinct overode my urge to publically display even an edge of my capacity for condensing my rant into a lil ol sticker. And so I went gently into the American night, whipped before I started. A man who couldn't take his own dare. My question answered. Who would be willing to buy this in sticker form? Who would have the balls for the public display of his care, concern and rage at the way America seems to be determined to go? Who cares if this course is bound to tear the US apart? Vietnam obviously taught us nothing. We will follow our leaders blindly into the next and then the next, in a long series of "just wars". Who oh who would unflichingly go out onto America's increasingly unfriendly and dangerous hiways and byways with his bumper armed thusly with an evident truth of just how unfixably shaky the American experiment is at present? Why NOBODY. However, I must say in self defense of my cowardice combined with my better judgement, that by not producing this sticker, I have conceivably lessened or at least minimized the hiway deathtoll and incidents of road rage. So here it is, another unfinished project without the polish. Just a plaintive thought, a wish, a moan, a squeal raped before it could be squealed. Another stillborn idea doomed to live on only in digital form on a single page in a remote corner of the web. Who cares that it really might have had the potential to stir the pot? It has been set aside in the interest of safety and security. We all know what happens to those that rock the boat of state with dangerous truths (like the earth going around the sun instead of the sun rising and setting in mankind's collective butthole, or that "niggras" have the right to ride at the front of the bus and to vote). If you must, go tell it to Galileo. Or Reverend King. I think they'd know. Or tell it to the 6+ million Jews in in pre-holocaust Germany. They'd probably have an interesting take on the virtues or the dangers of not speaking out. Just Because I'm Too Chickenshit To Produce This Sticker Doesn't Mean That You Can Before I leave this rich vein entirely, there's still a bit more to say, and do here. By the way. Just because I am not producing this sticker as a sticker does not mean the more enterprising and crazy among you are allowed to do so in my stead. Nada. I am quite possesive of it. It is a copywritten and and a trademarked item. The Fix It or Fuck It line will soon rival, "Just Do It" or "No Fear" as a consumer byline here in America. Its mine to publish or withold as I wish. To make tons of money off of it, by clever marketing ploys that target the satanic vitriolic ungovernable portions of the left wing. And of course by preying on the still gullible and disaffected youth in this country, who will buy into anything remotely anti-government or that has a marijuana leaf attached to it, I'll be making tons of money. At least that part of my scheme cannot be considered thoroughly unAmerican. And then there are those whom we must protect at all costs from the "F" word. Ha ha. Perhaps if part of my marketing angle were to sell special auto collision insurance along with an official writ of issuance and a get out of jail free card with every sticker, you'd buy??? Now On To A Less Tongue In (Which) Cheeks, or... The Love It Or Leave It Crew Can Kiss My Thoroughly American Ass How dare you think you are the only ones who can define what love of country consists of! Its Either Men Of God Or Men In Governement That Get To Define Your Love There are, there simply must be, harsh penalties of not loving America according to Hoyle. They must be set forth somewhere in some dusty tome, whose inner workings are mysterious and unreadable except to trained lawyers. They must be written down in no less uncertain terms than the stones of Moses and chiseled into your face lest you forget their tenets. Then finally there must be sentencing guidelines for the transgressors. Shunning is suitable for lesser offences. Lengthy lifelong prison terms must be set for those who break this law. How important it is to know exactly how to go about showing love for America! Of course, pledging allegiance is always a good standby. Flagism is so very very important to the official state religion. Better to remove God from your prayers than the flag from its stand. After all God is far off and the flag is right there in your face. It always has been an acceptable substitute. There is no better way to show your love of country than waving your flag and demanding that everyone else does too. Then saying loudly, "My country right or wrong!" is a good start. And "God Bless America" said several times a day especially when there is one of those serial/perpetual "just wars" happening that we Americans seem immured to. Then don't forget, when it comes to perpetual "just wars, it will help to remember this fine distinction: Americans don't have jihads. We have crusades. Don't forget this important difference lest someone might mistake our religious fervor for a holy war. After all it wouldn't do to be too much like the Muslims. They are so sick and wrong. Yes indeed. These indeed are things to tremble at and to instill awe into any patriot's beating breast. Or fury if the new commandment "Love thy country according to Hoyle or Else" is broken. So beware oh ye citizens, of breaking the law of the love of Amerika! For that, the ultimate penalty awaits you and you will die a thousand, nay a million traitor's deaths. Whew. Lemme catch my breath and regroup here for a second ok. I Have Decided My Words Are Too Strong. I Didn't Mean Them So I RECANT! Do I need to recant, make a rebutal for what's written so far. Doesn't the care and the passion I feel for Fuller, Freer, Fairer, FRIENDLIER Democracy come through? It isn't that I hate America. Not even close. I JUST FUCKIN HATE WHERE WE ARE GOING ..or is that where we are being HERDED to? I detest the toll it is surely going to exact. Pre WWII Germany has too many parallels to our own post 9-11 lives for comfort. Do you really want to go there? If the brutal history of Nazi Germany holds true as it seems to be doing for US, then forget it. NOBODY is safe in an unfriendly snitch society. In the name of this austere love of country gone amok, this assbackward take on "fixing" our national difficulties by scapegoatism, by blaming any one but our collective selves for the pass we are in I say this. We are being conditioned from Waco onward to think in terms of violent final solutions. Yes your turn will come, you will be called to take a stand and show your love. Tread carefully here. I mean take a look at yourself. I bet you do not love the official version of America as much as you say you do. Its written all over your face. What was it? Did you cheat on taxes? Have you said something in an unguarded moment against one of your duly or unduly elected rulers, I mean leaders, that can be construed as treason? If you did, you can be sure that your voice and face have been recorded and duly noted by the security systems in place to protect you. Did you get pissed off at that cop who gave you a traffic ticket? Your annoyance & anger may be understandable, I mean everybody has subterreanean problems with authority. It comes from the way we were potty trained. But nowdays, everyone knows that terrorists have the same kind of attitude about USA's authority figures in general. You just can't be too careful. They drive the same kind of nondescript car that you do. You are hereby "profiled". Come on, there must be something. You're guilty and you know it. To show yourself as a good citizen, a good rule is-FINK FIRST. What better way to muddy the trail of your own guilt than to loudly show your love of country and your loyalty? This is the best of ways to keep any suspicion from falling on you. How do you think Mao's enemies escaped the worst excesses of their so-called cultural revolution? Now its America's turn to turn and rend itself. It is of more than a passing certainty that those who administer a police state have no choice but to turn the citizenry against themselves and each other. Call it Requirement #1 for the smooth and proper administration of such a state. Never mind. You will go along with it. You already are. Not only because you have no choice, but because you love your country and fear for you own security. See how it works? Is someone perhaps manipulating your love? Does this disturb you? Unfortunately the deep abiding love of country and love of place can be turned so easily into worship of the State. So I say you that you should be sure exactly where and to who your real loyalties lie. God fuck me standing or running. No way America. This is not a healthy kind of love. In Requiem For My Country It is an equal certainty that those who love the fruits of an open friendly, fair society can, will, are and must resist this nazification of America. More are joining those ranks every day. These are the largely unsung next breed of American hero. Willing people from all walks of life willing to show by fearless force of example that the real thing is a heart thing. And that the fruits of the heart can deliver the goods in a way nothing else can. That love of country does not preclude care, a real respect for others, love and common sense. That this love is by its very nature, universal and includes EveryBody. It is extensible and covers the entire human family. It is inclusive and not devisive. We simply don't have to go the official route into more and more disaster, so we won't. We lover's of American democracy are showing that resistance to this CHEAP IMITATION LOVE OF COUNTRY comes from the depths of the heart. What else is strong enough to allow US folk to buck the rip-tide set loose by our calculating unscrupulous rulers? Even yet. Even when we are more than halfway down a bad, bad row to be hoeing, we can individually and then in groups and maybe even collectively, stop buying into the bullshit. Can't we? For the sake of the Christed friendliness I feel, even for those goddamned cops and politicians and rich fascist shits, whoever they may be, who are ruining Our Republic with pretensions of Empire, right along with Our Grand Experiment in democracy- I tell you this: The real thing, a democracy that we have been allowed to have so precious little of, is being replaced everywhere by Somebody's thoroughly phony brand of "I Love America so re-brand it til it looks just like me and in my imperial image" bullshit. I for one ain't falling for it. And if you are too myopically blind to not see that this is exactly where our present gum'mint is attempting to take America, well I'll fight for your freedom to be your myopic, shortsighted and shortsheeted ass too. maybe in time, you'll come around and see and think for yourself. Now there's an original thought. In the name of a deep love, a higher love than the official state religion can ever conceive of, we MUST RESIST war and the multiple injustices being perpetrated in an escalting spiral of state sponsored violence upon our human family at home and abroad. And these acts are being done in OUR NAME too! It is unconsciable! America wake up and cease either supporting or being the neighborhood bully, the aggressor. Love America? Always! Leave it to the arrogant opportunistic thieving bastards? Never. Fix it? If we can. Fuck it? Only when there isn't nuffin left to attempt repairs on. There you have it. My .02¢ for what its worth. I wished I felt better in the venting, but I do not. In closing, if I made you think, well that is certainly good. If I riled you and got you thinking, that's even better. If I riled you without enticing at least some kind of activity in the "ponder centers" of the old brain matter, God rest ya. If that is the case, then you are probably a contributor to the problem that needs fixing. |
